Pytronic has been awarded funding from the strategic innovation program Smart Built Environment for further development of the HomeCore Gateway – a new Swedish platform with the potential to revolutionize how households control and optimize their energy usage.

HomeCore is the first complete solution in Sweden that combines control of all smart home devices with active management of power tariffs and electricity prices in real time. The system can reduce a homeowner’s energy consumption by up to 20 percent – while also helping households avoid costly peak demand charges.

Securing continued support from Smart Built Environment is a strong recognition of both our technology and our business model. It shows that HomeCore is not only technically advanced but also meets a growing market need”, says Hampus Oxenborg, CEO of Pytronic.

Earlier this year, Pytronic won a prestigious innovation procurement from BeSmå and the Swedish Energy Agency – further evidence of HomeCore’s potential to contribute to more energy-efficient and sustainable housing in Sweden.

A system for the energy-smart homes of the future.

HomeCore is an open platform that connects to heat pumps, EV chargers, solar panels, and home appliances. The system analyzes, optimizes, and controls energy use in real time – and is already prepared for future requirements such as power-based tariffs, energy sharing, and flexible consumption.

Thanks to support for Zigbee, Z-Wave, and Matter, the system is compatible with a wide range of smart devices.

Our vision is to strengthen both household finances and societal resilience. If every home in, for example, Kyiv had a system like HomeCore, the power grid would have been more resistant to attacks“, says Hampus Oxenborg.

Next step: a large-scale demonstration project

The funding from Smart Built Environment enables a comprehensive pilot project, launching in August 2025. The project will be carried out in collaboration with OBOS, Trivselhus, the Swedish Homeowners Association (Villaägarna), the Swedish Federation of Wood and Furniture Industry (TMF), and experts from Antesis Group and Actea – in close dialogue with the Swedish Energy Agency’s BeSmå network.
